“Reality Check” needs a reality check. The story isn’t fake; the headline is a lie.

The title is deceptive, the condition is called fetus in fetu. There is a Wikipedia page about it. The baby has her undeveloped twin inside her. It is not viable, and never will be, it is essentially a parasite that will feed off her blood supply. They will probably have to remove it or it will restrict her breathing and other internal organs.

At 1-y/o, I don’t think the fetus inside the infant is growing at all, it’s probably just a “dead” fetus. So no, I do not think she will be giving birth to her sister. It’ll still be a problem to remove it though, I am sure.

Viability does not affect personhood, Jade. Just because you have a condition which is terminal does not make you any less human, or would you like to take that up with those currently suffering terminal illnesses? A fetus is NOT the same as a tumor, or vice versa. The fetus is by definition an unborn baby which has reached a certain stage of development.

For those who like to argue that a fetus is just a “blob of tissue” I would respectfully like to point out that if said “blob of tissue” is given its full 9 months to develop we both know that the result would not be a dangerous health condition known as cancer, unless that is how you think of healthy babies.

What is wrong with people on here? It is a fetus because it WAS a part of her AND it is growing with her because it is getting nutrition from HER BLOOD! If you take it off of the blood it will die. It is a parasite because it cannot survive after it is taken away from the source of nutrition from the blood. It does not look like a normal baby…deformities are what causes it to be called a parasite. I went through all of this from Discovery being pregnant with two sets of twins and I was worried this could happen. In other words…this is the girl’s identical twin and it was to weak to grow. Mkay, dude, this is extremely possible. The physics behind it are rare, but possible. Has anyone here heard of the little boy who was “pregnent”? He was born with his twin’s fetus inside of his. The fetus died, of course, do to lack on nutrients, but the carrier still lived. This child has a very high survival rate, and can easily pass the baby, and have both living. Abnormalities with human genetics are common, so people who DON’T understand this, go back to 5th grade science class, because this is REALLY easy to comprehend. These were obviously twins.. During the birth of twins abnormalities occur like conjoined/siamese twins, or a twin born with an extra pair of limbs since the other embryo did not grow properly.. This case is the rarest of all.. fetus in fetu where one twin gets into another.. Sometimes in other rare cases they share a single placenta, in that case the fetus is a parasitic twin that live off the nutrients of the other twin..
