These people are fearless! Look at that height! I wouldn’t even climb up that much ever. They have great balance and they do not know for fear!

When you visit Vegas, make sure you go to ‘City Center’. It will be finished at the end of 2009. I worked on that, Saw a dead body myself. Their were 20 deaths building that project. Construction can be dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing. What I see in these pictures is downright stupid. Flip-flops or barefoot? Accident waiting to happen, much less anything else I see here.
holy cow that’s pretty high.

These pictures are a shame. The persons in the pictures are risking his lives every day. I ask myself wich would be their circunstances to be force to accept this work. They remember me that the good life style of a part of the Humanity is over the suffering and a miserable life conditions of other.
I know there are better examples about this i have just said, but this images are too. Sorry my english.
Fearless? No. Desperate? Very. Amazing what people without government protection, education and unions are forced to do for money. If they were working with asbestos or other toxic chemicals without protection would you still think they are fearless? Gimme a break.
They should stop this project immediately, if I have the power to say something in that country. The rich and the project developers think about their own pockets , but don’t give a damn about the safety of their own workers. I think they get less wages than colleagues in the most western countries and no insurance either. It’s a scandal .. working without responsibility at all.

As it says on the last guy’s hat: when you’re poor, you need a rich heart.
Yes indeed , it is touchin’ what he wrote on his hat. But that doesn’t protect him from a deadly accident. What he need are safety equipments
It’s not as if the government didn’t provide any protection or standard safety regulation for them, but when i asked them “why you did such a reckless thing without any protection?”. They answered me “Coz we used to work like this, Ropes and boots just come in our way”. Damn those guys are tough.
Sure, they are though guys and grazy as well
But, that’s their own choice to make a livin’. May God be with them. Because one wrong step and one of them are going down like a block of stone. It wouldn’t suprise me , if a lot of accident already hapenned.
Wow! Crazy workers
This is bullshit. This is why I laugh when people here say that America is bad and that we suck and that we look bad to the rest of the world. I say screw the rest of the world. Go live somewhere else and see how bad it is. Flippy Floppies on the jobsite. I bet the building is built like shit too. The rebar tying looks especially sloppy. Who needs rebar anyway?
The Bahasa Indonesian language on the hat says ‘Let the poor live from the rich’.
Frankly these H&S standards are typical in developing countries. Which is a pity but no one cares enough to do anything about it.
They need unions.
My last comment : No matter how sure you are
about yourself..if don,t obey safety regulations , then find another job. So,be strict.
OK…the workers are taking some risks . BUT–what about the Photographer ?!?!
This is terrible and shouldn’t ever happen!
But please remember that this is not just Indonesia, you can find the exact same pictures from when the Manhatten skyline was built in the thirties!
These things happens all the time everywhere. It happens dyeing cloth in India, the mines of Bolivia, constructions in Indonesia. But also think about what risk some of our idols take….. formula one, we pay them big bugs, but think of the risk they take 24 deaths in 40 years may not seem like much, but compared to how many formula 1 drivers there are its pretty serious…. and its for absolutely no reason!
